Kew Gardens, London

Your day begins with a chance for a quick wander around beautiful Richmond before a delicious Fish & Chip lunch, served with tea and/or coffee at Pier 1, Richmond. Following this we make the short drive to Kew Gardens.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site houses the largest and most diverse collection of living plants in the world. The Gardens’ famous glasshouses provide hours of fascinating discovery – explore a tropical rainforest in the iconic Palm House, journey through ten climatic zones in the Princess of Wales Conservatory, or marvel at the architectural splendour of the Temperate House. Kew Gardens is also home to Kew Palace, the former summer residence of George III.

A soaring tree-top walkway offers the chance of a bird’s eye view of the Gardens and, for those without a head for heights, two art galleries dedicated to the beauty and intricacy of flora from around the world. Spring and summer are the perfect times to experience The Great Broad Walk Borders, the world’s largest double herbaceous border, featuring over 60,000 flowering plants to ensure a dazzling display of colour. The Hive, a 17-metre high installation designed to examine the plight of the world’s bees and highlight the vital role these insects play in pollinating the world’s crop.
